While working at Polimeer Amsterdam, I designed and developed the Ajax Amphora made using recycled plastic seating from the Ajax Arena.
The concept was to create an object that would have more value than its previous form - how do you add value through reusing what is essentially a waste material?
The material has a sentimental value unlike any regular waste plastic material, so it was important to celebrate this sentimentality through the final design.
The amphora was made using a combination of digital design and traditional craft methods. It's form pays homage to the original Ajax Amphora made in Ancient Greece, with a contemporary update. Ajax fans are particularly proud of their teams history, so the Amphora is finished with an imprint of their vintage logo on it's crest.
This was exhibited at Dutch Design Week 2017 at the Klokgebouw.
